(1) Take shorter showers

(2) Turn off water while I brush my teeth

(3) Line dry my clothes instead of using the dryer

(4) I try to refill my thermos with coffee each morning instead of using the paper cups supplied by Coffee Bean

(5) Recycle

(6) Conscious of grocery shopping and don’t overbuy on produce

(7) Turn off lights when I leave the room

(8) Open windows instead of turning on air or heat

(9) Drive a fuel efficient vehicle

(10) Try not to overprint papers

(11) Shut off our computer monitors and speakers instead of powering down

(12) Walk to El Torito for margaritas instead of drive

I can be doing more, please tell me what…

Most I agree with. These I do not:

5. The only thing you can recycle that is actually GOOD for the environment is aluminum cans. Everything else takes more energy than it saves.

6. I don’t understand this one at all. Are you under the impression that there is a shortage of produce? There’s not.

9. This is a very difficult thing to measure. A Prius doesn’t get the best mileage out there (the Camry hybrid does by a lot), and is MUCH worse for the environment to dispose of than any other car on the road – including the Hummer.

10. This assumes that there is a paper shortage as well. Paper is biodegradable, and trees grow. A lot.

11. What is the difference between shut off and power down?

12. Margaritas at El Torito are fair at best. I say drive the Hummer to El Cholo instead. Possibly smoke and spray cans of hairspray into the air on the way.

on driving a fuel efficient vehicle: Its actually easier on the environment to keep driving your car that works fine than it is to just go out and buy a prius or something. It’s because of all the resources going into making the new car but if you’re going to buy a new car anyway…

I believe that we are born into an ever changing world. Always learning, always teaching. We are not the same being as we were the day before and will not continue the sameness over the days that lie ahead. Our ability to change, makes us stronger.
